Cavity Wall
Insulation
Cavity wall insulation
involves filling the gap between the inner and outer leaves of your house with a
breathable, lightweight medium that prevents the passage of warm air from your
rooms to the outside. The manufacturers of the insulation, such as Knauff,
ensure that it is moisture repellent to prevent damp crossing the cavity. This
is aided by the openness of the material which allows air movement within the
cavity. The effect could be compared to you wearing a woolly jumper under your
waterproof jacket!

A thorough survey is
required because as with any other structural alteration to your home you need
to be sure that it is done properly. The first step is to have a trained
surveyor inspect your house. He will be looking for any problem areas which
could effect the efficiency of the insulation, such as damp, cracks, poor
pointing, debris in the cavity, etc. He will also have to see your gas or open
fires to judge whether a core vent is required. The whole of the wall area is
then measured and priced. |

Installation
of the insulation material usually
follows within six weeks. The installers will also check some essential points
prior to drilling and installing the medium used. All of the installers are
trained to a very high level and will respect your property while working
quickly and efficiently. Typically, installing cavity wall insulation in an average sized family home
takes about half a day. The insertion holes will be made good and finished
accordingly.
