The above examples may help you to decide whether you can have your walls insulated. If you are in any doubt or your walls are rendered and/or painted then request a survey and our surveyor will check and advise.

Houses which are frame built cannot be cavity wall insulated. The inner surface of your external walls will sound hollow when rapped with your knuckles because the wall is not brick or block. Check front and back walls not just the gable end wall.

Walls that show a pattern of new pointing as shown below have been cavity wall insulated already and can't be "topped up" or redone. A good place to look is under the windows about two courses of bricks down from the sill.
